1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Kcal AI Up desktop application ("Kcal AI Up" or "the App"). Kcal AI Up is a lightweight desktop sitting reminder tool that records local sitting, standing/moving, and paused sessions, then triggers local reminders according to your settings.
This policy does not replace the privacy policies of the Kcal mobile app, the Kcal website, app stores, browsers, or your operating system. When you open the Kcal website, download page, app store, or another external link from Kcal AI Up, those services process data under their own policies.
Important: This document explains the current product design and privacy practices. It is not legal advice. Before public release, review it against the laws and platform requirements that apply to your distribution regions.
2. Data We Process
2.1 Data Stored Locally
To provide reminders and daily review, Kcal AI Up stores the following data on your computer:
- Reminder settings: reminder interval, workday start/end time, enabled weekdays, auto-return-to-sitting time, launch-at-startup status, and floating reminder setting.
- Activity sessions: sitting, standing/moving, and paused session start time, end time, and source.
- Reminder events: scheduled, displayed, snoozed, and responded reminder events.
- Runtime state: local state needed to restore the current status and calculate reminder timing.
2.2 Data Not Collected in the First Version
Unless a future version changes this policy and clearly explains the change, the first version of Kcal AI Up does not collect or upload:
- Account, phone number, email, name, birthday, government ID, or similar identity information.
- Food, weight, goals, AI recognition, membership, payment, or health management data from the Kcal mobile app.
- Location, camera, photos, microphone, contacts, calendar, keyboard input, mouse path, or screen content.
- Apple Health, Health Connect, motion sensor, or system activity recognition data.
- Advertising identifiers or third-party advertising profiles.
3. How We Use Data
Kcal AI Up uses local data only to provide core features:
- Determine whether the current time is within your configured work schedule.
- Calculate continuous sitting duration and trigger a local reminder at the configured interval.
- Display current status in the menu bar, system tray, panel, or floating reminder.
- Generate today, yesterday, and last-7-days sitting and standing summaries.
- Clear local data or open Kcal-related links when you choose to do so.
The first version of Kcal AI Up does not upload sitting records to a server, does not automatically sync with the Kcal mobile app, and does not use sitting records for targeted advertising.
4. Permissions and System Capabilities
- Notifications: used to send sitting reminders. Notification content may appear in Notification Center or on the lock screen depending on your system settings.
- Launch at startup: used only if you enable it, so Kcal AI Up can start with your computer.
- Local storage: used to store settings, activity sessions, and reminder events.
- External links: when you choose "Open Kcal" or a similar entry, the App opens the Kcal website through your browser or another external application.
Operating systems may display, store, or manage notifications, startup items, and app data differently. You can adjust related permissions in system settings.
6. Retention and Deletion
Local data remains on your device until you clear local data in the App, uninstall the App, delete related app data, or the operating system removes it. After uninstalling, different systems may handle preferences, cache, or backups differently.
You can clear local sitting data from the App settings. After deletion, Kcal AI Up cannot show daily records and statistics for the deleted period.
7. Security
Kcal AI Up uses a local-first design to reduce data transmission risk. We try to store only the data needed for reminders and review, and the first version avoids accounts, cloud sync, advertising SDKs, and third-party analytics SDKs.
Because the data is stored on your device, your device password, system account, disk encryption, backup settings, and malware protection also affect local data security. Keep your operating system and the App updated and use reliable system security settings.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, or withdraw consent. For the first version of Kcal AI Up, most sitting data is stored locally on your device, so you can view or delete the relevant records directly in the App.
If you have questions about this policy, data deletion, permission explanations, or future data practices, contact us using the details below.
9. Children's Privacy
Kcal AI Up is intended for general office and personal habit management use and is not directed specifically to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without guardian consent, please contact us so we can help address the issue.
10. Changes to This Policy
If a future version adds accounts, cloud sync, analytics, crash reporting, cross-device sync, server backup, or other features that change data processing, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide appropriate notice.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest material change.
